The Town of Windsor Locks seeks qualified applicants for the position of Green Jobs Training Program Coordinator. This position reports to the Youth Services Bureau Director. This is a part-time (15 hrs/wk) nonunion position with no benefits.

 

 

Duties include but are not limited to*:

 

Coordinate and track progress on the Green Jobs Training Program in Windsor Locks Public Schools.

▪Coordinate program for up to 12 students

▪Develop and maintain community partnerships, resources, and opportunities for students

▪Demonstrate to and guide students on important employability skills (e.g. professionalism, punctuality, time management, etc.)

▪Serve as a motivator, mentor, and supervisor of students

▪Work closely with the WLPS Office of Partnerships, Director of Partnerships

▪Compile survey data and feedback from the Green Jobs pilot program, share out to stakeholders

▪Organize meetings between stakeholders and students

▪Contact and schedule speakers, instructors and students for training days/dates and times

▪Contact and schedule students for transportation needs

▪Coordinate and track expenses (program needs, supplies etc.) and payments

▪Coordinate release forms and emergency forms, as needed

▪Conduct program completion interviews with students and stakeholders

▪Provide program completion summaries for sharing with funding sources, students, and stakeholders

No Supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements:

Minimum of a High School diploma (some college preferred)

Experience in a school setting and with program coordination preferred.

Experience in grant administration and budgeting preferred.

Compensation:

Compensation dictated by grant funding, which ends on 6/30/22. $25,000/year

The Town of Windsor Locks seeks qualified applicants for the position of Buildingand Land Use Clerk.  This position reports to the Town Planner & BuildingOfficial.  This is a full-time, 40 hr per week, benefited, Bargaining Unit.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Directly interfaces with public. Processes zoning, building, electrical, plumbing and HVAC permit applications. Maintains office schedules, property files and records. Provides regular permitting and budgetary reports. Other duties as assigned. Works with supervisors, BOS. Provides information to state, regional offices.

Requirements:
Customer service experience preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, basic office skills a plus.

Main Street Windsor Locks Community Steward

JOB TITLE: Locktender (Main Street Community Steward)

JOB REPORTS TO: First Selectman; Director of Public Works; Director of Planning & Development

SUMMARY

 

Originally, the Connecticut River Company (now the Windsor Locks Canal Company) engaged a locktender to manage the passage of boats through the Windsor Locks Canal.  A locktender had to be reliable and friendly.  The position grew into one of great local honor and importance as the locktender was essentially the ambassador of Windsor Locks to the hundreds of boatmen who passed through the canal annually.

Today, the Locktender will serve as a downtown Windsor Locks steward, helping to keep downtown Windsor Locks tidy, friendly and welcoming to residents, shop owners and visitors.  This is currently funded as a seasonal position, entirely through Downtown Tax Increment Financing District revenue.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Greet residents, shop owners and their employees, and visitors with professionalism, enthusiasm and energy.

Litter pickup and disposal.

Tend to street tree beds.

Report problem spots.

Report encroachments and dumping activity.

Receive neighborhood complaints, seek to respond or refer to appropriate resources.

Answer basic questions regarding the downtown district.

Assist with special projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Commitment to the community.

Proven ability to work as a self-starter and team member.

Demonstrated strong judgment and integrity.

Ability to lift full trash collection bags.

Ability to follow directions and work independently.
