Reports to: Sup/WPCA ​in the absence reports to Director of Public Works

Rate of pay:  per bargaining union contract (will send contract per request)

-40 hour work week per union contract

Responsibilities include but not limited too:

Under the General Supervision WPCA/Superintendent/Director of Public Works

Essential Duties & Functions:

  • Day to day operations for WPCA facility
  • Ensuring facility is safety operated in compliance coordinates and conducts training
  • Maintains accuraterecords/required by dept & DEP requirements
  • Plans work Schedules and personnel

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Oversees work performed by and job performance of subordinate workers/seasonal

Preferred Education And/or Experience:

College degree preferred 

valid cdl class b drivers lic, with air brake tanker endorsements

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Extensive knowledge of the method and equipment usual to wastewater collection and the treatment and the practices required to operate a class Iv treatment facility.

State of Ct Class IV Wastewater Treatment Operators Certificate​

Second Tuesday of the Month 5:30pm
$75.10 per meeting

DESCRIPTION:

Part-time-non-union non benefited) Recording Secretary Position involves recording and transcribing

Minutes for WPCA Board.  Meetings are in the evening at the WPCA Facility. Individual will be responsible for timely posting of agendas and correspondence with the Board. (minutes in accordance with FOIA )EOE, AA. Part-time non benefited/non pension position.

Main Street Windsor Locks Community Steward

JOB TITLE: Locktender (Main Street Community Steward)

JOB REPORTS TO: First Selectman; Director of Public Works; Director of Planning & Development

SUMMARY

 

Originally, the Connecticut River Company (now the Windsor Locks Canal Company) engaged a locktender to manage the passage of boats through the Windsor Locks Canal.  A locktender had to be reliable and friendly.  The position grew into one of great local honor and importance as the locktender was essentially the ambassador of Windsor Locks to the hundreds of boatmen who passed through the canal annually.

Today, the Locktender will serve as a downtown Windsor Locks steward, helping to keep downtown Windsor Locks tidy, friendly and welcoming to residents, shop owners and visitors.  This is currently funded as a seasonal position, entirely through Downtown Tax Increment Financing District revenue.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Greet residents, shop owners and their employees, and visitors with professionalism, enthusiasm and energy.

Litter pickup and disposal.

Tend to street tree beds.

Report problem spots.

Report encroachments and dumping activity.

Receive neighborhood complaints, seek to respond or refer to appropriate resources.

Answer basic questions regarding the downtown district.

Assist with special projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Commitment to the community.

Proven ability to work as a self-starter and team member.

Demonstrated strong judgment and integrity.

Ability to lift full trash collection bags.

Ability to follow directions and work independently.

 

 

Up to 35 hours per week. Non benefited non union

Responsibilities include but not limited too:

Under the General Supervision of the Director of Public Works this is a working foreman position

Essential Duties & Functions:

Schedules and allocate personnel and equipment to perform ​work assignments

Inspects new and existing equipment, roads, facilities for conformance to Town specification and needed maintenance/repairs.

Prepares routine documentation regarding work in progress and upon completion.

Supervisory:

Oversees work performed by and job performance of subordinate workers.

Preferred Education And/or Experience:

High School Diploma or Equivalent. An Associate’s Degree is preferred.

5 Year experience maintaining Facilities, Construction, Maintaining Roadway, infrastructure

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Strong analytical ability, including the ability to make decision in working toward assigned objections, modifying work methods and standards to meet variation in controlling condition.

Ability to supervise and manage people.

Must be resourceful, and self-motivated.
