The tests will be available to all regardless of symptoms, insurance status or ability to pay. Anyone interested in being tested is strongly encouraged to call to be evaluated over the phone in advance of the testing. This evaluation will be completed by Priority Urgent Care. The phone number is 860-454-0678. Anyone interested can call on Wednesday or Thursday prior for evaluation. Appointments for Friday testing will be assigned during the evaluation. The tests are drive-through only and not available to pedestrians for the safety of all.
“We at Priority Urgent Care strive to provide high quality and affordable care at our locations. We have been screening and managing patients with COVID-19 for the past few weeks already,” said Dr. Daksh Rampal, MD, Medical Director and co-founder of Priority Urgent Care. “Our communities are going through a tough time and we are available for them when they need us, 365 days a year. As the State of Connecticut is slowly and carefully re-opened, reliable testing will be the cornerstone of any such plan. This will allow us to test and isolate people who might infect others while allowing others to go out and participate in normal life activities.” He added “I would like to thank the Town of Windsor Locks and First Selectman Kervick. They have been a great resource as we try to expand our services to more and more people who need testing. They have allowed us to safely and reliably treat our patients while maintaining safety to our staff and the public.”
Windsor Locks First Selectman Chris Kervick noted that testing has become extremely important as communities consider ways to safely resume social and economic interaction. “Windsor Locks is pleased to partner with Priority Urgent Care to offer a safe and efficient testing service to our citizens and our neighbors and we thank the North Central Health District and our Emergency Management, Police and Public Works Departments for working together as a team to make this happen,” Kervick stated.
Symptoms of COVID-19 are varied and can range from flu like illness, abdominal symptoms, and conjunctivitis. Fever and shortness of breath are the more concerning symptoms, but patients can have malaise or generalized fatigue as well. Anyone with these symptoms can contact us and be evaluated for testing. Those being tested do not need to be current patients of Priority Urgent Care but must complete a medical screening by a provider at Priority Urgent Care. This evaluation will be done over the phone or by video telemedicine. Those who have not been pre-screened in advance will be evaluated by telephone at the testing site as time permits. Evaluations will be conducted regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
